I never envisioned balancing a demanding career and motherhood quite like this.
Coming from the fashion industry, where 10-12 hour workdays were just part of life, I always imagined I’d continue on that path. But after having two kids, my perspective shifted entirely. I quickly realised I needed something different—a business that allowed me to pursue my passion while being truly present for my family. I wasn’t willing to compromise on either.
With Jimit’s diamond expertise and my background in art and fashion, we had the perfect foundation to create something unique. I just needed the technical skills to bring it all together. So I enrolled at GIA to study jewellery design and technical drawing. And slowly, as my kids grew, so did Niya K—my third baby.
Running a business as a woman often means juggling everything—family, kids, travel, friendships, community commitments—and doing it all while staying fully present for every customer. It is a constant balancing act, switching from school runs to client meetings, from designing a piece late at night to packing for trunk shows the next morning. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
For any woman thinking about starting her own business, be ready to learn every part of it. I never imagined I’d be the one managing accounting, logistics, or operations—but here I am. And while I never loved numbers, I had to master them because it’s all part of building something of your own. The challenges are real, but so is the joy. There’s nothing like seeing a client’s face light up when they receive a piece we’ve created together. That moment makes every late night, every challenge, and every Saturday morning spent working completely worth it.
And the best part? My children are growing up watching their mother build something with love, dedication, and resilience.
That’s a legacy I hope inspires them one day too.
